Focusing on entrepreneurs and like-minded individuals who seek change, a career refresh, or a foray into start-ups and enhancing professional networks, the ANU Silicon Valley Alumni Career Forum is an event you cannot miss.

We invite you to a night of networking and industry knowledge on careers in technology, innovation, entrepreneurship and learn how you can shape or re-invent your career.

The Silicon Valley Alumni Career Forum is not only for graduates working in ICT.
The Forum will also give insights into:

  • Turning career mistakes into opportunities
  • Taking your study or career global
  • Career reinvention after 40
  • Innovation and creativity

The networking session that follows the Forum gives you an opportunity to meet the speakers as well as members of the ANU alumni community.

We welcome the following Forum presenters, ANU alumni from Silicon Valley:

Tim Sears PhD (Computer Science and Machine Learning) '08) - Founder & CEO, Pingwell
Tim Sears is an entrepreneur, business strategist, computer scientist, data and analytics expert. He created Pingwell’s cloud based data extraction technology. Tim also provides leadership to one of Silicon Valley’s fastest growing innovation centres, non-profit Hacker Dojo, serving as a Director.  Prior to his career move into IT, Tim had 19 years’ experience on Wall Street (including Goldman Sachs) in trading, quant finance, and risk management.

Peter Buckingham BSc (Hons) '00 - Senior Director at Xyratex
Peter is an entrepreneurial, strategic, and visionary leader with over 15 years’ experience in industry-leading companies. He has a long record of success in building technologies and top-performing teams to develop new, innovative products. Peter possesses in-depth knowledge of a wide range of hardware, software, and system components, including Enterprise solutions.

Eoin McMillan BA, BComm '09 - Founder & CEO, SF Dev Labs
Eoin is an entrepreneur, community organiser and start-up advisor. Since graduating in 2009 he has worked in accelerated business transformation as a knowledge worker (PwC), built a hostel for entrepreneurs (StartupHouse), founded the Mexican branch of StartupBus, and served as Art Director at Freespace, an experimental community space in San Francisco. Eoin has a penchant for Chinese tea and is passionate about building web applications that connect information and social systems.
